Brandon Powell
Hi! My name is Brandon Powell, I’m in 7th grade and I’m 12 years old. I have a twin brother, Dylan, who is also on our team. I’ve been involved in robotics since 4th grade when I took the “Introduction to FLL Robot Design and Programming” class at my school. I really loved the class and it sparked my interest in wanting to be part of an FLL and FTC team myself! In 5th grade my friends and I formed an FLL team named the RSF Maze Runners and we won first place in our FLL district championship, followed by the Core Values trophy at Legoland. In 6th grade, we formed another team, the RSF Solar Cyclers and once again won the FLL district championship followed by the Robot Design award at Legoland. All of these awards were the first time our school, R. Roger Rowe, had won the championships! This is the first time I have participated in the FTC competition, in fact our whole team are 7th grade rookies! The challenges of building an FTC robot are tough, but I have learned a lot this year. While I helped in all areas of robot design, building and game strategy, my focus this year has been Java programming. I have been taking Java programming classes for the past two years and
it has really helped us with our autonomous programming. I am also a member of the Singularity drive team and love working with our closely knit drive team to win matches! This year I’ve learned a lot about how to use a bandsaw, a drill press, a table saw and other power tools, as well as a great deal about the engineering design process. We have great team mentors who have been super helpful in guiding us this year. My great experience with our team mentors inspired my brother and I to want to give back and teach other kids about programming and robotics. During the summer, we formed a company, Kids2Code, that teaches 5th graders different programming languages and robotics building techniques. We had a great time teaching! I also took a summer class at UCSD on how to design video game apps using Unity. It was the first of hopefully many new game apps I’d like to create! Finally, I love flag football, soccer, and basketball and play the piano and guitar in my free time (when I’m not doing school homework.

Carlee Weber
Hello, my name is Carlee Blu Weber and I’m on the Rsf Robotics team 7696 Rsf Singularity. Im 13 years old and I live in Rancho Santa Fe. I have had experience in robotics but, have never been on an FTC team. In fourth grade I was on a FLL team. I am in 7th grade, and play volleyball. I do most of the CAD (computer aided design) for the team, some of my teammates and I take Solidworks for elective. I am the only girl out of seven boys.

J.T. Young
Hi, I’m JT Young. I live in Rancho Santa Fe and go to R. Roger Rowe Middle School. I’m 13 years old and was born in the Berkeley Hills. I am an older brother to twin sisters (both seven years old).
This is my fourth year of being in a robotics program. I was a part of the original Maze Runners FLL robotics team and we came in first overall in our district competition. In our second year, we switched our name from Maze Runners to Solarcyclers. We again came in first overall in our district competition. This year, we are new to FTC, with a new team name Singularity. This has been a fun journey.
I have a passion for technology. My dad is my Java instructor and I strive to be able to learn more from him. He is a great mentor. I enjoy robotics because it allows me to take what strategies I’ve learned in my life and put it into robotics, and vice versa. I’ve learned how to use drills, saws, work with gears, and get an introduction to CAD.
When not at robotics practice, I play soccer and baseball on competitive tournament teams.
Jack Pollin
My name is Jack Pollin. I am 13 years old. I am excited to be on the the RSF Singularity 7696 team. Some things I like to do in my spare time are play soccer, read, and surf. I go to R. Roger Rowe school and I live in Rancho Santa Fe. I play the trumpet for the school band. I also speak some Spanish. This summer, I went to a STEM camp at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. I had a great time and learned a lot about robotics.
I chose robotics because I had tried an enrichment class for lego robotics. I really liked it and decided to keep going on with it. Now I am in the FTC program and I love it. FTC is so much fun.
Kanvar Soin
Hi, my name is Kanvar. I am 12 years old. I go to R. Roger Rowe Middle school. I got interested in robotics after taking an introductory robotics class offered at my school. I did FLL for two years, for the RSF Carrot Chins, and the RSF Solar Cyclers. This is my first year competing in the FTC.
Building the robot from scratch was very exciting.I learnt a lot about engineering design and construction.I also learnt how to use some cool power tools. I take the CAD Engineering class at school and learn to program in Java at the ‘League of Amazing Programmers’.
One of the reasons that I love robotics is because I like to build things. I help my grandpa all the time when he is working on a project. I also love to work with others and make new friends.
Fun Facts About Me... I love to travel and see new places, my hair is almost past my shins which is about 4’11 long, I love to to take phones apart to see how the phones are made and I enjoy playing the flute. I love to play football,basketball, soccer and I especially love jumping on my trampoline. My favorite sports teams are the Seahawks, Panthers, Golden State Warriors, Lakers, and in world soccer, Germany .
JACOB MALTER
Hi, my name is Jacob. I am 12 years old and live in Rancho Santa Fe. I go to school at R. Roger Rowe Middle school. I love to play football, baseball and ice hockey. I played baseball for 2 years, I have played hockey for 1.5 years and still do it, I played tackle football for one year, and flag football for two years and still do that. I love to travel, every summer I go to New Jersey where my grandparent’s beach house is. I also love to go to sports games. For example Padres games, Chargers games, Gulls games, and Ducks games. I did FLL for two years, for the Maze Runners and the Solar Cyclers. I also swim and play piano.
Fun Facts: I have been to over 25 countries like Egypt, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Sweden, and China. Also I lived in Australia for six years (when I was 1-7 years old).
I love robotics because of the freedom and the creativity you have in it. To complete the challenges you can use millions of different designs of robots. Also, I love robotics because of gracious professionalism. Being kind to others and helping others is something everyone needs to learn in their life. The more you are kind and help people, the more people will become like you. One final reason I love robotics is because of the engineering process and all of the knowledge you end up with. I have learned how to use many tools including, a ban saw, Allen wrench, and some hammers. FTC has taught me to be more kind, creative, and a ton about engineering.
Dylan Powell
Hi, my name is Dylan Powell and I am twelve years old. I attend the 7th grade at R. Roger Rowe middle school. I live in Rancho Santa Fe and I like to read and play sports in my spare time. I have a twin brother, Brandon, who is also on our team.
I play flag football and soccer for our school teams. My hobbies consist of building things, card collecting and gaming. My favorite sports teams are the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Giants. As for music, I play the piano and guitar. Robotics, Mechanical, and Software Background: I take a CAD engineering class at school and a JAVA class at the League of Amazing Programmers. I helped with all aspects of our
robot’s design and building, including the CAD drawings we used to model our robot. I am also on the Java programming part of our team and drive our team’s drone robot when we are trying to provide a realistic field experience for our drive team.
I have previously spent two years on a FLL team and won the robot sumo competition with my friend Jake in Del Mar. At home, I work with Snap Circuits and EEME kits.
